Film Movement: moving along
DVD subscription service Film Movement hopes to expand, according to this bit of PR: "Film Movement, LLC (www.filmmovement.com) named Josh Levin Chief Marketing Officer for the company, effective immediately. Levin spent the past year in charge of Film Movement's exhibition department, a role he will continue to oversee in his new position. "Josh really impressed us with his effectiveness in getting our films into theatres, a part of our business that had been underperforming before Josh joined us last year," [company president Stuart] Litman said. "He turned exhibition into a positive revenue stream for us, and built important long-term relationships with exhibitors and bookers that will continue to pay benefits for Film Movement going forward." While Levin's main remit to to increase the number of DVD-of-the-month subscribers, the release notes that their "day-and-date release strategy, which Film Movement pioneered, has been validated by other domestic distributors who have collapsed or abandoned their traditional release windows for films big and small."
