Toil and trouble: taking Soderbergh's Bubble home

Evan Bevinsof the Parkersburg, WV News & Sentinel explores how (and if) the New York Film Festival entry will get shown in the Ohio River Valley hamlet where it was made: : "The film director Steven Soderbergh shot in Belpre and Parkersburg this spring using local residents, will appear on a big screen in the Mid-Ohio Valley - but probably not at a local movie theater. "It'll probably be some other place, like maybe the art center," said Eamonn Bowles, president of Magnolia Pictures..." Regal Cinemas, which owns many nearby venues, won't show 2929-Landmark-Magnolia-HDNet movies, which are slated to open day-and-date with broadcast and DVD. "Russ Nunley, VP of marketing and communications for Regal, said... "We believe that the ... experience of going out to the movies is special, unique..." A call to Nunley seeking more specific information about Bubble was not returned... Even if Regal doesn't carry the film, Bowles said Mid-Ohio Valley residents will get their own screening of... probably in January. When the film is released to other theaters that month, people will have access to it on DVD as well..."
