Seven minutes of Los Angeles Plays Itself

Thom Andersen's masterful essay-film (2004) on Los Angeles will likely always be restricted for viewing, as the weave of clips from movies shot in the city were not, and likely could not feasibly, be cleared. Fair use? Not in this 169-minute instance. Here's the list of films Andersen uses in his epic. Andersen follows up a year later in Cinema Scope, reflecting on Michael Mann's Collateral, among other films. JC Gabel and James Hughes talk to Andersen in 2007 for StopSmiling.
