The Nigerian E-Mail Scam Gets Grosser

Urgent and Confidential from Sgt Richard Murphy.

Good Day,

I hope my email meets you well. I am in need of your assistance. My name is Sgt Richard Murphy, I am in the Military Engineering Unit here Baghdad, Iraq. We have about $15 Million US dollars that we want to move out of the country. My colleagues and I need a good partner, someone we can trust. This is a risk free and legal business (oil money).

But we are moving it through diplomatic means, to send it to your house directly or a bank of your choice using diplomatic courier service. The most important thing is that can we trust you? Once the funds get to you, you take your 50% out and keep our own 50%. Your own part of this deal is to find a safe place where the funds can be kept. Our own part is sending it to you. If you are interested, I will furnish you with more details. The whole process is simple and you must please ensure strict confidentiality at all times.

I look forward to your reply and co-operation, and I thank you in
advance as I anticipate your co-operation. You can reach me on via email: XXXXX

Waiting for your urgent response.

Best regards,

Sgt Richard Murphy.

Preying on someones kindness? The lowest of the low. Really it is just trying to scam the elderly. I hope no one falls for these scams and they prosecute the people behind it.

You mean this isn't true???

I hope Sgt Murphy gives me a refund.

Sending out emails that accuse soldiers of stealing money?

Have people no shame?

Rufus, these scams don't exploit their victims' sense of kindness, they exploit their victims' sense of greed.

You're probably right-- the elderly are the easiest targets. But I don't think anybody tries to accept an offer like this out of altruism.

if u think u can get right off this by helping steal money than u may deserve being conned.

Greed is a killer sometimes.

I'd love to find out who gets taken in by a scam like this. We really need to know who is that gullible/greedy/dumb.

I've been looking for a nice digital video camera online and saw a PD-150 on craigslist for $1200. I inquired about it and the guy said he could ship it to me within a week but I'd have to send the money to France, where the camera is located. So I sent him the money and...just kidding.

Wanting to play along, I emailed him and asked why it was so cheap and he gave me some convolted story about how his friend in France works for a non-profit and they get all kinds of electronics "don ated" and they sell them off cheap to fund their non-prof. Uhhh....o.k. So I emailed him back and said I thought about iut and it was just too expensive for me right now.

He emailed me back and said he'd let it go for $500 because his "wife is very ill." Good stuff.

They'll try any kind of scam. The internet just feeds into that whole industry.

only people who think HOSTEL is based on fact would buy into this scam.

Hostel wasn't a documentary? My goodness you learn something every day.

Dear Dave "superfly" Poland,

500 bucks. Not a bad price.

Posted by: joefitz84 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 17, 2006 05:13 PM

Lota,

You had him at "Superfly".

Posted by: Angelus21 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 17, 2006 05:54 PM

I'll take checks too. Send some in any amount.

Posted by: Fades To Black [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 17, 2006 06:26 PM

yeah I know Angelus. Wire transfer will likely arrive tomorrow. And plane ticket email confirmation.

Joe, Lota was a House manimal not a Field manimal so she was not required to harken the Sayer of the Law.

I thought there were no exceptions to The Law (although she was the only female, wasn't she?)
