Whatever Happened To...

1980s hotties, Deborah Foreman and Michelle Meyrink? (Corrected from Melanie)

According to imdb, neither has worked since 1991.

A better question is: where the hell is Whit Stillman?

Wait, did you mean Michelle Meyrink?

Posted by: PetalumaFilms [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 06:20 PM

Michelle Meyrink is obviously so engrained in your brain that you think her name is Melanie. Huh.

I bet in 20 years some blogger will be asking "Whatever happened to Rebecca McAdams?"

Posted by: Wrecktum [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 06:21 PM

So which one were you watching, Poland? Real Genius or Valley Girl? I'm guessing Valley Girl.

Posted by: Wrecktum [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 06:25 PM

80s babes? I always had an unholy thing for Sandahl Bergman.

Now where is SHE?

Posted by: Scooba Steve [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 06:26 PM

Sandahl wasn't a career actor. Like Gerry "Subotai" Lopez, she was more of a Cali beach-head, which is how Milius knew them. She's on the Conan:SE if you haven't seen it.

Here is Deborah's website:

Scooba, I remember Sandahl. Remember that horrible B-movie she was in with Shannon Tweed where some freakish creature in a glass jar caused Shannon to try to kill Sandahl and seduce her husband? Pretty funny.

No one's gonna bring up My Chauffeur? Foreman's hottest film as well as the one she's probably the funniest in? With Sam Jones, Howard Hessman, AND Penn & Teller? Come on!

Posted by: lazarus [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 07:07 PM

Um... Cynthia Gibb...

Posted by: mutinyco [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 07:27 PM

I'm pretty sure her name is RACHEL not Rebecca.

Posted by: Josh [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 08:02 PM

Real Genuis is a classic movie. One of the all time greats. The bigger question.

Where are Kent and Mitch?

Posted by: Josh [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 08:04 PM

80's actresses. It can kill a week doing searches and seeing where they are. It's fun.

Whit Stillman: http://www.gyford.com/whitstillman/archive/2005/fadein_vol8_no2.html

"At one point, Stillman was also developing a Colonial America drama, but the project fell by the wayside due in part to the fact that Stillman's resume consisted of dialogue-heavy character pieces, not historical epics; it was also undercut by the release of Columbia's Revolutionary War opus The Patriot, which starred Mel Gibson and was directed by Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow)... Stillman's film would have touched on similar historical elements as Emmerich's. As he put it in an interview with The National Review in 2000, his project "was based on one of the many threads on which they based that horrible movie [The Patriot]. I hated that movie so much because it is such interesting material. I felt that movie trashed absolutely everything in the most hackneyed way possible."

Whit Stillman a 1980s hottie? Since when?

Posted by: mutinyco [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 08:51 PM

When was Whit Stillman hot?

Posted by: Sanchez [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 08:59 PM

Jennifer Rubin for me. Definitely Jennifer Rubin for me.

I thought after A Woman, Her Men and Her Futon she would go on to bigger things.

What happens when you cross Michelle Meyrink with Melanie Mayron?

Who cares, gimme Jill Schoelen!

Posted by: Arnzilla [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 10:57 PM

"I'm pretty sure her name is RACHEL not Rebecca."

You missed it.

Posted by: Wrecktum [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 11:14 PM

Don't forget Phoebe Cates.

Posted by: Jim [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 2, 2006 11:59 PM

Nice one... Jennifer Rubin was in 1992s Delusion. One of my favorite underrated, unseen Neo Noirs. Find it. Rent it.

Jill Schoelen once hit me with her car.

Real Genius was on... both women were in both films.

IMDB obviously hasn' t been keeping track of Deborah's post-acting career. From the bio on her website:

"With all this experience, she has been able to utilize her talents in graphic design/website design, retail
management including merchandising, a strong sense of Brand-Names, initiative, leadership and
communication skills who can take ownership of a business and have the drive to make it a success. In addition,
her strong yoga practice has brought a spiritual spring that has taught her life is an offering of unconditional love."

I always thought Deborah Foreman was adorable. Wonder why Poland brought this up? How about Kelly LeBrock on Celebrity Fit Club 3, doesn't even look like the same person.

Posted by: White Label [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 07:00 AM

ive never been so disappointed in my life than seeing kelly lebrock on celebrity fit club. what a tragedy.

I was always a fan of the French girl from "Better Off Dead". Maybe it was that accent of hers.

Posted by: Rufus Masters [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 07:47 AM

I got it, Josh....and thought that was pretty hillarious...nice one!
and...
"Jesus Christ! Doesn't anyone knock anymore????"

"Awesome! Totally awesome! All right, Hamilton!"

Posted by: Josh [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 08:08 AM

Val Kilmer was at his dreamiest in 'Real Genuis' and he is as dreamy as they get. Kinda made nerds seem hot and cool.

I don't know if my previous post can be edited but here is the link to the story I was talking about. Sorry!

The Noles and Bobby B are going DOWN.

this was a good game. in 1998.

Posted by: bicycle bob [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 11:11 AM

So was Heather Thomas...

Posted by: mutinyco [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 11:38 AM

I'm still upset The Irish didn't come to play last night.

Posted by: Bruce [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 12:02 PM

A lot of female actresses end up quitting the business after they turn 30. It's just hard for women out their for decent roles after you hit the magical 30 number. There are only so many of those roles out there.

Posted by: Terence D [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 12:22 PM

As long as USC wins everything will be okay.

Posted by: Angelus21 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 01:33 PM

Oh dear...someone mentioned Heather Thomas. That pink bikini...on the opening of The Fall Guy...at the dawn of VHS when you could freeze frame.

In 1983, life was good, indeed.

Posted by: Nicol D [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 04:42 PM

Jenny Wright. Cute little groupie in The Wall.

Posted by: Maskatron [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2006 05:35 PM

You know, Ms. LeBrock is not the same, but I know a lot of 40something men who would be hitting on her at the country club every day. Not everyone is obsessed with (or able to attract) 20something bods.

If she drops the 30 pounds or whatever they have planned for her, she will legitimately be able to start working again. She won't be Bissett perfect, but pretty attractive,
