It's Funny... Almost
When Traditional Media finds itself leaking readership, what does it do? It offers the same writers who aren't drawing a crowd even more space, polluting the web with more junk food in a format that none of them seems particualrly comfortable with.
Welcome to The Blogosphere, Nikki Finke!
You are officially DOMTTHOBCTNMTH(AF)SM* Blogger #274. Congratulations.
We have great hope for Nikki. She may be a wild woman, but that can be a lot of fun. She might want to check out Anne Thompson's sharp prose and David Carr's 3am-at-the-bar charming ramblings to find examples of escapees from your current standing.

I like David Carr's semi drunken ramblings. He's a real good read.
But everyone here said it. Old Media, all the ones who said blogs wouldn't make it, would eventually join in on the new technology and disparage/try to take down the New Media/blogs. They know they have to keep pace in this war. They know good blogs aren't going anywhere.

They're all following the leader. They should give some credit to you, Dave.

Ha.
I want a "Beeee Yooootch!"
She's another one who's predicting a CRASH win. Is it that hip right now? Do they know something the public doubts?

It's funny.... my last predictions were that it was a little short... but who knows?
Thing is, we are in an echo chamber of our own creation and after a while, reality is a question mark. But many of my comrades forget that and thing that masturbation and sex with a partner are the same thing.

Sex is better with a partner.

There are so many of these blogs I don't even know where to find them. Is there a list somewhere?

Even Jeff wells has conceded that Crash isthe most likely winner. I think if it happens, it is going to be so irrelevant. Brokeback is not only a cultural phenomenon but clearly the best of the lot for more reasons then just the fact that it is seen mostly as a "gay" movie. Am I the only one who sees Ledger's performance as one of the best in recent memory? This film might just go down (no pun intended) in history as another example of a film that gathers nothing but shine as the years go by and CRASH will surely go into that ugly group of Oscar winners where CHICAGO and A BEAUTIFUL MIND reside along with the other boring/ inflated TV MOV types. I should think that at least Ang Lee and the writers are a lock. How cool will it be if Jake pulls out the surprise win of then ight? Could be bigger then if CRASH does grab the statue.

If Jeff Wells thinks it's going to happen, then it probably isn't.

Wells is an Oscar jinx. He was against Rings and Chicago too.
I'm not a big Brokeback fan but it's better than Crash.

You see they cast Travolta in Hairspray in the Edna Turnblad role?
Genuis casting for them. Fans of the musical and the Waters movie have to be concerned about one thing. Directed by the genuis behind The Pacifier and Bringing Down the House.

I just can't get past Crash being nothing more then a white liberal guilt movie. I mean, is there any other aspect in the film that resonates except for Matt Dillon? I just think he is the only thing worth watching in the flick and the only thing about the film deserving of any awards.

Howard was better than Dillon in "Crash". But he was better in "Hustle Flow".

He was MUCH better in Hustle and Flow. Yeah, nothing like a wimpy black guy going all gangsta with the pigs at the end of Crash. Pretty laughable.

When was this tide of feelings for Crash? Was Brokeback all hype?

How can you claim my columns don't draw a crowd when their online versions receive as many as 500,000 page views in 24 hours?
David, try fact-checking.

Are those independent page views, or is that an aggregate total? If it counted each time I came here in one day, that'd be a lot of page views.
Right now, page view statistics are at the statistics end of the "lies, damned lies, and statistics" scale. David's, and everyone else's.

Travolta in HAIRSPRAY is an abomination. Nearly a million people paid a C-note to see the show with Harvey Fierstein; to replace him at all, much less with someone wholly inappropriate for the role (and who hasn't opened a picture in nearly a decade) dooms this from the get-go.
