Anyone? Anyone?

Nice day... 'bout 79 degrees... had fish for lunch... yeah... Reggie White got inducted into the Hall of Fame... good for him... 50 bombs on Israel... uh huh... well, if I nap during the day, I might have a hard time sleeping.... yeah... look, a birdie on my porch... uh huh...

Dennis Miller will be a new correspondent on Fox News "Hannity and Colmes" starting this Fall.

SHOCKER!
I suppose this could be another incident with entertainment and news being blended together into one unit, but that ball got rolling, um, 20 years ago. So...yeah, still...look at the bird.

It strikes me that there are plenty of movies worth talking about. I would be happy to beat up on Lady in the Water some more, or to praise Monster House (although it's not as good as I was expected, in no small part due to the vacant eyes of its CG animation).

Posted by: jeffmcm [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 8, 2006 06:02 PM

Of course, Reggie White is dead, so that's not so good...

the best thing that can be done about Lady in the Water is forget it's snerfy or scrudly or whatever creatures ever existed. MNS maybe should direct something he doesnt write to get the negative taste out of viewing public's mouth.

Did someone really tape up an "E" on the Malibu coastal sign to make it "Melibu" or was that Adobe Illustrator?

After you fax your Senators to insist on immediate pro-active UNICEF, UN and Negotiators' assistance in Lebanon-Israel immediately, then you may resume your birdwatching. Clearly the Security Council cannot Progress (they usually don;t), but progress needs to be made. Maybe they should send Brad and Angelina.

Nice day... 'bout 79 degrees...

We had a heat index of over 100 degrees today. It's at 93 right now.

Swell of you to rub it in Dave.

In more Mel non-news: Anne Thompson linked to Joel Stein's Time column about Mel. It's the funniest thing I've read today.

"If Mel doesn't like us, maybe it's finally time to stop blaming everyone else for the bigotry and scapegoating and start to look at ourselves. As the saying goes, If people hate you for 1,000 years, you can blame them; if you're persecuted for 2,000 years, maybe you're unlucky; but if they still want to kill you after 3,000 years, you have to ask yourself if you're doing something wrong."

I just watched the featurette on We Are Marshall over at apple.com, and I'm amazed.

David Strathairn is in a movie directed by McG.
Ian McShane is in a movie directed by McG.

And to a lesser extent, Matthew Fox and Matthew McCoughnahey are in a movie directed by McG.

Anyhow, in the immortal words of someone else, "What's going on?!"

I have nothing against McG (heck I own both the Charie's movies - two of my most guilty of guilty pleasures), but I find it interesting he's tackling something as heavy as the subject matter presented. It's got a December release date - I guess they're expecting big things. Good for him in getting some talented actors.

My sentiments exactly, Dave.

Joel Stein writing something funny would be the biggest news of the day

RE: We Are Marshall.. I don't know. I just have a feeling that this will end up surprising people who are expecting the worst because it's directed by McG. This is obviously a different animal than the Charlie's Angels movies and when I talked to Anthony Mackie, a great and highly underrated actor, he said that he was really proud of his work in it and being in a movie with the others. Maybe this will actually be a good football movie... unlike Gridiron Gang, which I just saw, and barely could help from laughing while watching it.

If McG directs a fine quality movie I will apologize for every evil thought that ever passed through my head on his tremendous deficiency in Mad Skillz.

Posted by: Lota [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 8, 2006 07:04 PM

Does McG have a real name? I mean, c'mon.

Posted by: Wrecktum [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 8, 2006 07:50 PM

Nerd fact of the day:

McG = Joseph McGinty Nichol

now I have to get a life outside of IMDB or Myspace. I shouldn;t know facts like that.

Help, I'm drowning in "inspirational" American Football movies!

... In other news, Lamont just won out over Lieberman. Sean Hannity's face just melted off in horror AND glee.

In other news, I just heard the track One Night Only sing by Deena Jones & The Dreams, as will be featured in the film Dreamgirls. Does anyone know how long this track has been available? Did it just come out today? It's very showtune-disco-esque.

I must say, I am looking forward to the one film that captures the voice of a generation. The inconquerable Step Up! When I saw that commercial the other night, I almost crapped my pants. What a great proclamation.

They're pretty much the funniest things I've seen all year.

"Oh no, don't go back there. That's worse!" *woman screams*

hysterical.

"Ian McShane is in a movie directed by McG."

The great Al Swearengen himself!

I'd watch anything with McShane (aye even SCOOP...)

WE ARE MARSHALL I believe is a real life story about a football team whose plane crashed and the repercussions on the locale.

Posted by: Spacesheik [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 9, 2006 04:48 AM

I had always assumed McG was African American until about 6 months ago when I saw a photo of him. Does that make me a bad person?

Posted by: Krazy Eyes [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 9, 2006 06:28 AM

Go watch Crash Krazy Eyes :P

I never quite new what race Rosario Dawson was until recently. I'm like the Matt Dillon character. "What's your name?" "Shaniqua Johnson" "Figures"

LOL

Do they crash in the Andes? You know what happens next.

Late breaking news:

Robin Williams, 55, "found himself drinking again" after two decades of sobriety and "has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family," spokeswoman Mara Buxbaum said in a statement.

First Mel, now Robin. Damn.

This just in: Mel Gibson's rehab and penitence serves as shining beacon of light for decadent Hollywood stars! Will he earn the Nobel?

But seriously, best wishes to Williams, glad that he didn't need to self-destruct to go into rehab...and why did they need to send out a statement about it?

Possibly this info would have become public anyway, especially with popular sites like Defamer, TMZ and The Smoking Gun.
