It's great when you talk about the business. The naked Helen Mirren stuff? Not so much. Here's the thing - you're becoming a bit like Patrick Goldstein already. If all you're going to do is bitch and moan about the process you yourself have come to dominate, it's going to get pretty dull, pretty fast. If you want to stop predicting, writing about, analyzing the Oscar race - just do it, man. But please stop whining about how much you hate it. You're feeding the beast, after all.

As to the NBR - well, whatever. Again, it's like the Globes. It exists. Deal with it. Nothing you say or anything anyone else says is going to take away the NBR's place in the race. Believe me, how much worse could it get for them than it already has? The truth is, you're right. Everyone wants to win a goddamn fucking Oscar so badly that they're willing to do just about anything to get coverage on ANYONE'S blog. They're willing to suffer fools at parties, willing to give interviews, take meetings, you name it. They'll do it. It isn't just for ego. It can mean everything for a small movie. It could mean everything for someone like Jackie Earle Haley.

I get that you're self-hating. I understand it and I feel the same, to a degree (seriously, I do) but it gets a bit tiresome after a while to see people complain about what they do. If you hate it so much, why would you bother? Is the money really that good? Dumb question.
