Dave,
if you want to check out something new and cutting edge in media and Entertainment, go check out the PAX 2007 Expo in downtown Seattle that's going on this weekend.
It's essentially a Game/Videogame Expo started by two web comic guys to benefit hospitalized and terminally ill children.
There are 30,000 there attendees right now.
Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are all there showing their latest content. Along with all the major publishers and developers in the industry.
They have interesting panels like how story and narrative fit in videogames:

It's going on all weekend. If you want an idea of how interactive and passive entertainment are merging in content, I would advise checking this out.
This is now the biggest event in the videogame industry since the cancellation of E3, and it is only in Seattle and it is this weekend.
Oh, and don't forget, it was started by two guys that wrote a webcomic about games. Now they have their own online store, this convention and now their own videogame coming out themselves developed with some of the top talents in the industry.
I love these guys and what they've done with their passions, the web, and how they've not only turned it into major prosperity for themselves, but also managed to generate some real good in this world.
I wish I was there this weekend to catch it.
