It's kinda nice up here

DePalma's live feed from Venice into the Mason Hall Theater at Telluride... Larry Gross handles hosting chores

On second viewing, at the Abel Gance outdoor theater on closing night, the stars were not shining... except for Cate Blanchett (a stand out in a standout cast), who seems to be a lock for a Supporting Actress nomination, even if I'm Not There ends up confounding Academy members and has to "settle" for being in the Top Three of the critics' lists and "just" winning NY or LA at years end. The best chance for this film to make it into the awards race is to show it early and often and to get the DVD in people's hands by mid-November... and if TWC wants to get really serious, they should be the first studio to ever offer an awards screener in High Definition. Like The Diving Bell & The Butterfly, this film is a challenging work of art that should be seen in the best format possible if they want to blow people away the way the films do in theaters (and yes, I'm Not There kind of needs 2 or 3 looks before it really starts to sink in and will need a ton of critical suport.)

Telluride's back... in 360 days.

God, imagine if Blanchett won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the same year. It seems remarkably feasible that it could happen considering the two roles are seem so very A-C-T-O-R-L-Y and the type of thing that could win.
And, yeah, if Travolta also got a nom... that'd be crazy. I love it.
That I'm Not There photo looks like a Killers videoclip. Just fyi...
