Lunch With... Tony Gilroy

My apologies for the production values and my appearance as Jabba The Hut... but it is an interesting conversation with the writer/director of Michael Clayton.

Took me a second to realize that was a microphone on the table and not a black dildo. That might've added production value. In an ambiguous, non sequitur kind of way.

Thank you, Mutiny... you could have done it better, but you were busy.

Stretching for gizmos. Have to watch later. Can't scrub, no clock, how many cameras do you count? Like the table-level shot on Dave over his salad that I saw, briefly.

its not the length, its not the size, its how many times you make it rise.

This is a Charlie Rose worthy interview here, Dave. Your industry and cinema senses come together very well (yes, yes, the ones I'm always bitching about). Good work.

Come on, don't think of yourself as Jabba the Hut. You're a sexy bear, D-Po. *growl*
PS. I have daddy issues.

The commentary on Catch 22 IS one of the best I've heard, btw. Highly recommended. Helps that the movie is great.

Good talk. Not sure what your problem is with the production values. The two-camera setup works better than the previous installments in the series. And, aside from a little shaky-cam action, I think it looks pretty good!

Almost forgot... I absolutely have to know where the ingenious placing of the last scene of Supremacy into the middle of Ultimatum came from. Was it Gilroy's own idea? It's one of my favorite cinema moments of the year.
Somebody pop this guy an email!
