Weekend Estimates by Klady
Not much more to add to this story.
A couple of small things struck me.
1) There are only seven movies in wide release right now with as many as 100 people a day buying tickets in each theater... not per show... per day.
2) Juno isn't going to hit $150 million, which seemed like where it was going back in the Oscar heat. Likewise, The Bucket List, which was at $75 million and still doing $5 million a weekend, will also land just over $90 million total. I would imagine that both are victims of the DVD window.

I know that this is a few weeks late, but with so few quality films to see...I decided to take a risk and see Semi-Pro...thinking well it cannot be that bad.....well it is....Many scenes looked like they were lit with two flashlights and a tiki torch. Yuck...It looked incredibly cheap....Hell, at least Blades of Glory had some sort of production values....I guess Will is taking the money and running...Sad...I liked Old School, Elf, Anchorman, and Talledega Nights....If he misses again...I expect a sequel to Elf or maybe a Talledega Nights sequel....ALA Eddie Murphy doing Another 48 Hrs or Beverly Hills Cop 3.
P.S. If Drillbit Taylor was any good, would they really release it the same weekend as March Madness begins.

Anyone notice that drop for The Bank Job? It must mean WOM is really good. I hope it shames the studio into trying to salvage $25 million out of the entire run. I think they could pull that off.

I thought Semi-Pro was actually very well-shot and had good production values - better than in Blades of Glory - but no story or character arc to speak of cripples it.
Meanwhile it's Shakespeare next to 10000BC, which I saw tonight. And as someone who enjoyed Stargate, Independence Day, and Day After Tomorrow...stinkburger.

I saw Miss Pettigrew...not bad, but certainly can wait for cable on a rainy day. It's hard to impossible to not love Amy Adams, but the film feels long at 90 minutes and I was just waiting for it to wrap in the last half hour. But it's a very sweet, innocent movie and I wish there were more like them in theaters.
10,000BC - couldn't pay me to see it. The last Roland Emmerich movie I saw was The Patriot...and that basically did it for me.
No desire to see Horton, Drillbit looks horrible, Ruins looks horrible. I wanted to see Semi-Pro, but the reactions have been so bad I don't want to anymore.
When does Indy IV come out again?
