It Should Be Noted...
There is no mention of Paramount anywhere on the trailer of Tropic Thunder, as there was none on The Ruins.
There is a Paramount tag on materials for Kung Fu Panda, though the distributed by card for Paramount is stuck on the back side of the trailer, not up front.
If you want to read the tea leaves - though the tea is read, cold, and ready to move along - these are much stronger messages than a lot of the gossip that floats around. Credits are a powerful public comment taken quite seriously because the lack thereof can be embarrassing... just recall how Par Vantage ended up forcing its logo onto No Country For Old Men publicity and marketing materials domestically and gave space to Miramax on There Will Be Blood as well.

So, what does it mean?
Paramount has been a little crazy the last year. They bought Dreamworks, but then fight with them. They throw Tom Cruise off the lot. Sumner Redstone is fighting with his daughter.
So, now they are releasing movies but don't want their name on them? Why?

Nothing new for Paramount. Last year "Next" was released by Revolution Studios through Par even though the Par mountain logo was not displayed.
"No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" were split-rights films, thus the Par Vantage and Miramax logos both appeared. This has been standard practice at least since "Small Soldiers" back in 1998.

Maybe they're making up for pissing all over the Paramount Vantage trailers. Those little cartoon bumpers in the middle of their trailer for Son of Rambow were annoying as hell.
