The Year Of Big Brown

And apparently, this includes the Kentucky Derby and not just the presidential race.

Pains me to say it, but Leno beat you to that joke last night.

Poor Eight Belles.

Seriously, that was awful to watch. They go from the news that they had to euthanize a filly to showing the rich owner being all happy and congratulating his family while still talking about the sad event. Ugh!

Over at Wells, Mark Halperin is being quoted from
Time's The Page: "YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS UP - Hillary Clinton enthusiastically picked a filly named Eight Belles to win the Kentucky Derby and compared herself to the horse. Eight Belles finished second. The winner was the favorite, Big Brown. Eight Belles collapsed immediately after crossing the finish line, and was euthanized shortly thereafter."

Well, well, Mark Halperin's an idiot. He's wrong, wrong.

Eight Belles didn't collapse immediately after crossing the finish line.

Eight Belles was IMMEDIATELY euthanized after collapsing, not shortly thereafter. Straighten that order out for yourself or be an asswipe like Halperin.

Hillary didn't have time to be enthusiastic, the decision to run her wasn't made long before the race. But once she was, it's a foregone conclusion Hillary would pick her.

What Halperin's doing is a twisted mixed-up case of anthropomorphization and allegory, and Hillary should apologize for everyone who's climbing onboard.

Hillary is weird like that. Jumping from one fad to the next, trying to make herself look hot. It blows up in her face everytime.

Obama has only one allegiance: Da Beeears.

God, if you can't see that this is an innappropriate topic to be tacking politics onto, I really have no use for anything you have to say.

Uh, Me, Hillary Clinton herself:

"I hope that everybody will go to the derby on Saturday and place just a little money on the filly for me... I won’t be able to be there this year, my daughter is going to be there and so she has strict instructions to bet on Eight Belles."

She tried to make the horserace into some gender issue and it blew up in her face. She's the one who tacked it on.

I don't know if you are upset with me for the entry or the discussion of a sadly euthanized horse.

For my part, I would say, "Relax... it was a joke... can't we tell jokes anymore?"

For the other, I would say, "With so much of this race reduced to mostly irrelevant and misleading side issues, what do you expect... and why is this a sin?"

Hillary bets on a horse. Obama prefers orange juice to coffee. Neither can bowl worth a damn. And this is what passes for political discourse these days...

No, I have no problem with the Big Brown joke. The presidential campaign is a horserace, and it's an easy joke to make.

My problem is with the attempt to tie the sad story of the horse that was put to death with the Hillary campaign. Find something better to whack at Hillary with, because the only thing the Obama supporters who bring this up now do for me is to turn me off Obama supporters.

gee, last time i made a (totally toothless) joke/flip remark you called me out as a homophobe....
but, now (because it's you being called out for a 'joke') it's, 'wah-wah, i was just kidding'....
jus' sayin'.....

Not only that, PETA had to open their big mouth about Eight Belles having to be put down. That makes PETA just one more reactionary outfit to come out of Hampton Roads.
