As a longtime WGA member, joined in the 1970s, I regard this as a grossly improper suggestion by the WGA. This is a rally that is designed to attack another union - AFTRA - and attempt to convince members to vote against ratification of a contract that will benefit members nationwide.
The contract, known as Exhibit A, carries substantial increases and improvements, and contains new media language patterned on the deal for which the WGA worked hard.
Supporting those who oppose this deal is wrong. The WGA should not be involved in it or spend members' money on it.

I especially like that the stated purpose is to support the negotiating team. They will be there instead of, ya know, negotiating with the AMPTP.

I hope you will voice your opinions here again, DB.
Very interesting. I had no idea that this was the goal. I certainly agree that the deal for AFTRA is an improvement for them. I'm not so sure that it's very good for SAG, but that's water under this particular bridge.
Interesting.

"The WGA should not be involved in it or spend members' money on it."
That's true of a lot of things Patrick likes to spend our money on.

So SAG and AFTRA are both AFL-CIO?
How about unification?
