Why don't you realize that you are a stupid motherfucker supporting the bankruptcy of this country. Stupid ass. Sort of like the VP candidate you will be voting for ditzy.

My dad is a pretty conservative guy, but even he has been drawing the line on Republicans lately because he said he "just can't abide stupid" in addition to the fact that most recent Republicans aren't true conservatives anyway.

My dad is an educated, successful guy and it kills him that erudition is now a Republican taboo and ignorance is a heartland value that trumps all right-wing virtues.

Regardless of ideology, to support Palin is to support dumb. Why do you hate America so?

Mystery . . . instead of your usual sarcastic response, why don't you explain to us what you find encouraging by this interview with Palin. What aspect to her answers do you think makes her a great VP choice?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did Palin ever say this? It was Cindy McCain, somebody who - last time I checked - wasn't running for anything.

I can see Warner Bros. from my house, but that doesn't make me Clint Eastwood.

The "porch" line (it was actually "house" if you want to nitpick) is from a Saturday Night Live sketch, which has been all over the internet. It's a joke. The funny -- or sad -- thing about the line is how close it is to her actual statement.

Al Gore did not actually say "I invented the internet." But it seemed to capture a certain aspect of his personality (arrogant know-it-all) perfectly, which is what the Russia line does with Palin (in way over her head, oblivious).

Hey, wouldja look at this? She elaborated!

COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land-- boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters--

COURIC: Mock?

PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our-- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia--

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state."

For some reason this reminds me of:

"Hawaii is a unique state. It is a small state. It is a state that is by
itself. It is a -- it is different than the other 49 states. Well, all
states are different, but it's got a particularly unique situation."

C'mon, you guys. McCain could drop dead. Doesn't this woman scare the shit out of you? Honestly, for real. Quit arguing just to argue and look into your hearts. Is the gloat factor of being able to say "my side wins!" worth it? I mean, would you really win if this person were president?

If you need any more convincing, even Chuck Norris thinks McCain will die. (Honest, look it up.) And if anyone knows death, it's the Chuck -- because a Chuck Norris-delivered Roundhouse Kick is the preferred method of execution in 16 states.

Palin is walking satire. Too bad she's actually up for election. Thanks, Republicans!

Sarah Palin is that popular girl in high school who is so self-deluded that her popularity in certain circles somehow equates into being right that she doesn't realize the only reason anyone talks to her is to get into her pants.

So you listen to her prattle on at a party, the whole while thinking, "Jesus, I hope she is either a good lay or gives great head because listening to this chick babble inanely on is not worth a finger-bang."

I might think Condi Rice was woefully unprepared to deal with the new political reality of the post 9/11 world, but I harbor no illusions she could not debate my ass into the dirt on the Eastern Bloc. Did intelligent women flee the GOP after Bush made it clear that qualifications were no longer an asset?

Is the kneejerk Palin support just the same thing as what some here claim is blind Obama support, never saying a bad word about him or backing him no matter what? It sure seems the same to me. The media is biased. Criticism is sexist. Blah blah blah. But to piggyback on what frankbooth said, does she really energize anyone here? Wanting to win and partisanship aside, has she really wowed you this last month? Are you impressed with her performance in the Gibson and Couric interviews? As we learn more about her, do you find yourself increasingly believing she was the very best choice? I know the Republicans I live with are not excited about her nor do they think much of her. That doesn't seem to be uncommon these days. I can understand the extremely conservative wing being pleased with her, the "values voters" crowd, the ones who don't trust McCain and don't think he's solidly behind them on their core issues. But what about the moderates of the party?
