The End
So McCain is back on the economy... he looks whipped... his only energy is coming from the crowds, which really want him to get back to being mean... Nice Johnny is back... but as his own people have indicated, he can't win if the conversation is financial... and his mortgage scheme has been as discredited as the gas tax suspension.
And I must be completely honest. Obama is coasting right now. He isn't doing anything all that exciting. But he isn’t going to get in his own way either.
What snapped things? I think the combination of being unable to pretend that they weren’t inciting some horrible behavior and being called out by Obama and Biden. Once they were called out, the only way to respond was to push harder or to pull back. And pushing harder was a clear trip into Colonel Kurtz Land. And pulling back is, in reality, a surrender.
Democrats will remain paranoid until McCain makes his concession speech and Sarah Palin does Saturday Night Live just before Thanksgiving. But at this point, Osama could put a dirty bomb in McCain’s Chicago HQ, leave bread crumbs leading to Obama’s door, and the public would still be looking to the response of the candidates to determine if the needed to shift to McCain, who is one brutal commercial showing all of his shifting of positions in the last two weeks alone from being wiped out in this effort.
And don’t be surprised if we see a lot more of The Clintons next week and through the rest of the campaign. They have to know that 2012 is no longer a real issue and that it’s time to refocus on 2016, when Biden will be 74 (and Hillary just 69) and vulnerable to age attacks.

1) You never declare victory. Until there is a clear victory.
2) Buying network time on the Monday before the election is not coasting.
3) Neither is blowing away McCain in battleground states with advertising.
4) This means that the Obama campaign are doing what they have to do against this opponent.
5) Here's to John finding his soul again, but let us not do backflips right now.

I think either McCain realized at this point all he is going to do is further trash his reputation with no benefit or the GOP realized (as Ed Rollins said) that McCain was also hurting them in the Senate races which is now teetering one contest away from a filibuster proof Dem majority.
Although Palin either missed the memo or is ignoring it hoping she can ride this to a senate or congressional seat down the line.
As to the Clintons, I wouldn't rule out her making a bid in 2012 if Obama looks vulnerable. In 4 years they will still have a lot of friends in the DNC.

Hillary should work on getting Chelsea into Congress. She's the next generation, has the proper education, and grew up in the business. The Clintons might as well see if their daughter wants in the family business.

And what state would Hillary run from, IO? Arkansas? New York?
Let her wait another 10-20 years.

I mean 'Chelsea' where I said 'Hlllary' but I also think IO is a powerfully strong idiot so it doesn't really matter.

Obama wanted to buy a "roadblock" of air time on the Big 4 networks on Sunday, 11/2. The NFL schedule makes that impossible, so the campaign is buying a half-hour on CBS and NBC the previous Wednesday.
As for McCain/Palin going mean? Rush Limbaugh, the right-wing lyin' king, did that and got called out in Obama's hometown.
