The Next Step Towards The Sad Future Of SAG
Sharon Waxman is told by an "inside source," who is almost guaranteed to be “Singing” Alan Rosenberg, that Alan Rosenberg is closing this chapter of his life as SAG president with a kamikaze attack on his union, filing suit to reinstate Doug Allen.
We’re in sad, scary Col. Kurtz territory now. Rosenberg is a good man who is right about what his union should be fighting tooth and nail to get, but neither he nor anyone else in the union has the tools in this moment in history to achieve these goals.
And now, he’s lost his mind… singing on websites… suing, essentially, his own union with the goal of gaining a stronger hold on power… crazy, crazy stuff.
Once again – “A deal gets signed shortly after The Oscars. Doug Allen is marginalized or gets a settlement allowing him to take all the money and go get a job with some other union that’s going out. Rosenberg resigns. And on to the AFTRA merger.”
It's sad, but based on this behavior, I expect Rosenberg to be forced to resign by the end of next week, if not sooner.

I said this before, but after voting Slumdog for "Best Ensemble", I'll be rooting against SAG in negotiations with anyone. Such little respect for their craft, bandwagon Oscar-predicting bullshit.
Whatever happens in this chapter, I hope they go down in flames.

Let's see: A plurality of an organization's members makes a choice that you regard as poor taste and that means an important labor organization and economic force in the industry should "go down in flames"? Yeah, that was worth posting twice.

Chris, while I disagree with Lazarus' shallow outlook I do share with his overall distate of SAG (not because of how they handled their awards) and the sentiment that the Guild will eventually deserve what they get.
When you have a bunch of (literally) supestars running the show in the Guild with little regard to good of an average member (and when the rest follow sheepishly or stupidly) then you really have to question the ever-marginalized benefits that the quild actually brings to the table. They are essentially on auto-pilot and I kind of feel bad for Rosenberg actually trying to do some good here.
And way to link to thewrap, DP.

Clearly the actors don't know how to judge themselves so maybe they should others do it for them.
