I guess Hannah Montanna proves she's no one movie hit wonder with this 16M friday opening. I have 3 daughters so this is hell for me. I keep wondering what is the HM 80s equivalent when I was a teenager but can't think of anything. I weep for this generation, no Breakfast Club, nor Ferris Bueller, nor Heathers. Flashdance was one of my first R Rated flicks, Wargames was my geek fix, and Predator ruled the action world, (even though it made only 60M, it cast a pretty big shadow.)
I may sound like an old man at 40 but even though i still like the movies today, like Harry Potter and Transformers, the teenage angst movies just don't seem to be of any value. I know HM does'nt attempt to fall into that category, but even the comedies, with the exception of Superbad, seem all lame and even 'safe'. No danger, no issues, just bland and cookie cutter.
I ramble, but I had some time on my hands. Long weekend in my country.

I voted for Fighting just to put it in the pie.

As a relatively new parent (19 months), who misses the ability to conveniently go to the movies, I personally relish the day when I can take my daughter to a movie without a fuss, even if it's something like Hannah Montana. As long as she's having fun, I'll be ok with that. Besides, I dragged my parents to some terrible movies (The Karate Kid III and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II seem to stand out), and we still love each other. Hell, just for fun, anyone want to name the movie or movies that they most feel ashamed of dragging their parents to at a young age?

My parents usually drew the line if they thought the movie looked bad. But before I was able to go to R movies by myself, my father valiantly volunteered for Freddy Krueger and Pinhead duty.
More impressive, though, was that he took me to live wrestling a lot. Years later, when WWE came to our hometown while I was back for a visit, I asked him if he wanted to go for old time's sake. he responded with a very vehement NO.

I dragged my mom to see the Toy when I was young. I still remember laughing my ass off while she sat there stone-faced.
