A Twitter Experiment
With a trip coming up, I am thinking that it might be time for me to do one of my experiments...
A Twitter-only week for my entries on The Hot Blog.
140 words or less... for 7 days. Comments wide open for y'all here on the blog.
Worth trying out?
(ADD) Example of what it will look like after the jump...
This will be what the page looks like (with more entries) each morning
And each day's entries will be archived like this at the end of each day...
As of Wednesday, 2:30p
* This morning, the same guy who told Sam Cohn jokes just before Cohn died was "pitching" Night At The Holocaust Museum. Am I in a bad movie? 34 minutes ago
* And So It Ends...: Deal done. AFTRA merger next. SAG, as we know it, becomes a rubber stamp for AMPTP, much li.. http://tinyurl.com/msxjuv about 13 hours ago

If it works, give credit to Eric, who suggested you use Twitter more in that other thread.

Why not? (Ha! 132 characters to spare)

No. I follow Twitter about as often as LexG gets laid, so my preference would be the Hotblog.

Wreck - The content will turn up in a blog entry, just like this...

Well then, what do I care? Twitter away!

Hey, I should get on Twitter so every time an Asian chick in clunky glasses disses me at Vons or the cute Armenian chick at CVS asks how I'm doing, I can share that Magic with the world.
Lex Tweet #1: I'm about to cook my Salisbury steak Lean Cuisine in the microwave. I was thinking about Burger King but maybe I'll say that for dinner. GOOD TWEET.

I think that if Poland twitters his way through the HotBlog, all comments to his posts should be less than 140 characters.

I kinda like that idea, Wreck.

Lex,
Do not do Salisbury Steak Lean Cuisine. Savarin TV dinners are where its at. Very cheap and very gooooood! Their Salisbury steak rocks!

@hotblog. I WILL SLIT MY WRISTS IF I DON'T GET LAID NOW. GET ME SQUACK. GOOD TWEET - LexG

Jokes aside. An interesting experiment would be if all hotbloggers were restricted to twitter length posts. It might focus points of discussion and cut down on the waffle.

RT @JFD @hotblog. I WILL SLIT MY WRISTS IF I DON'T GET LAID NOW. GET ME SQUACK. GOOD TWEET - LexG
LOL
However, I don't think is what Eric meant when he suggest Dave use Twitter more.

Because 140 characters is the new paragraph!

For me, it really is a function of traveling and being interested in trying out another form. But I agree... during this period, 140 characters would be an interesting commenter experiment as well.
As Lex has already shown, even boners are less intrusive when there is a natural restraint... of a form.

And why let Twitter dictate your output? This is slavishness to limp technology.

It's a form of communication, Christian... just like this blog.
I haven't converted the entire blog or the site to being Twitter-driven. Don't expect I will. But aren't you curious to try out new ideas? Isn't it possible that I - and we - could find improvements in our game out of this experimentation?

David, I just find twitter more distraction designed to keep us that much further from each other. Or enslaved to a business model. It's info overload. Why 140 words? What's the benefit? Less attention span is how I see it.
Does it matter by how you transmit your message? If you tweet, the focus becomes on the delivery tool not the content. And I'm sorta a luddite to be sure on communications technology. I just think we need to catch up in other areas first...Toffler called it "Future Shock."

And I learned all I needed to know about machines from HAL in 2001.

Camel is right, this isn't quite what I suggested, but I'm glad to see David trying something new. Good for him.
And thanks Blackcloud for remembering little old me. Ironically I'm not a Twitterer myself because I've already got a personal blog and, like Christian, I don't think it'd be improved by an arbitrary character limit. But many of my friends use Twitter as a sort of public text messaging system so I don't think it's worthless. I'm just not as social.
