Haha!
I loved it! Smart but its gonna pee off those who aren't FAME fans. :)
(Or those who saw the first few seconds and didn't listen thinking it was footage from Potter 7&8)

Smart? More like gimmicky and way too cute. Smells kind of desperate too.
And while I'm at it, and I've posed this many times before, just what exactly does the name brand of "Fame" bring to this equation? Did MGM and the producers really think paying for this brand would make a hill of beans difference to anyone who has an inclination of seeing this? It can be called MOVE or DANCE or FEET and those who want to see it will see it.
Anyone who remembers Fame, or watched Fame, is at a minimum around 38+ now, and they sure as shit aren't going to see this Gossip Girl dance flick. whatever.

Yeah, it may end up feeling like a CW leftover...
...BUT if they find ways to tie in to the original (which was the first R movie I snuck into at 11!) OTHER than Debbie "I won't go away" Allen...well, I'm there!

Aris - there have been three iterations of this television show and the original series ran for six (WTF!?!) seasons. It's been in syndication almost non-stop since that time. And the Irene Cara song (though nails-to-a-chalkboard in quality/overkill) is a dance staple, made all the more available to younger generations through the horror of things like KidzBop. Next to the songs from MAMA MIA!, it is my five-year-old neice's favorite song.
And though no real fan of either FAME or HARRY POTTER, the trailer did crack me up at the transition.

Ready to pull it from the darkhorse Best Picture list yet?

It's a musical, therefore it stays until the bitter end.

Dave's always had a soft spot for the showtunes. Even Mamma Mia, which he claims is total junk, I think he is quite fond of. Shot of The Producers, I can't think of any recent musical he's actually disliked. I agree, he'll leave Fame on the list until the day of the show.

Didn't go over well with the Potter crowds tonight. Indeed, they could smell the desperation. Being so short made it come off as some ABC Family commercial.

This version of Fame isn't really a musical, though.
