I'm happy to hear your comments on the production design. I was beginning to think I was alone in recognizing how precise and remarkable it was.

Also, for my money, this is the best, most insightful video review you've given yet.

I agree, great video DP. It doesn't make me like the movie anymore but you might've persuaded me to give it another chance. What more can I really ask for?

Very nice, David. I'm seeing the film this week.
Is that a large screen TV flickering over your left shoulder?

Great review, Great film. When you see the film again pay attention to sense perception. There is a major thematic divide between the sense of sound and sight. The opening shots after the prologue are of Danny's ear listing to Jefferson Airplane and Larry's ear getting inspected by the doctor. Then watch how the two percieve the world through sight. Larry is confused and can't conceptualize the world around him. Think about the way he observes his redneck neighbor as if he were an alien from Saturn. And then, of course, there is the world as seen from a drug haze and how that affects perception of the real world.

agree about the sound mix: the overtones to the phone ringing, the suction sounds, the dynamics of music heard through an earplug. Afterwards I was thinking about how the film has no violence - but then I remember in the prologue the dybbuk is stabbed, there is a car wreck, a bully and a tornado. Is Larry or Uncle Arthur a modern dybbuk? Does F Troop have a parallel with Branded?

thoughtful, articulate and heartfelt, DP. the coens are the real deal. as always i'm looking forward to their most recent foray into the world according to coen
(that little slice of baseball playing on the telly in the dark in the background is weirdly distracting/mesmerising tho)
